The 200 plus edge restraint units for Widford Viaduct in Chelmsford, represented highly challenging elements of pre-cast concrete construction owing to the varying base slopes, end angles, sizes and exposed aggregate detail on every panel that were required to line up on the completed job. Despite problems with the tender drawing issued, Macrete and the Nuttall John Martin team worked closely together to produce a viable solution. The Macrete input was always realistic, professional and enthusiastic and in excess of what could generally be expected to be offered. The finished product which required over 25 lorries loads to be mobilised (spread over a predetermined period) were delivered to the requirements of the programme and the high quality end product was well received by the client. The installed position of the supplied units is on full display and forms a large part of the visual aspect of the contract, any problems would have been there for all to see, but the units are a credit to Macrete.
